A great start in Vancouver
After a tiring trip over we have now started to settle in a little bit thanks to Vancouver SWAP and a guy called Eric that has taken us on a great tour. Too much has already happened so I wont go into great detail but this is what we have been have been up to these past few days.
On the first day we went to an orientation meeting were they told us pretty much everything we needed to get going. The young woman giving the presentation was unintentionally hilarious which made the meeting even better, well… until she tried to crack a joke about sharing condoms with your neighbours which no one seemed to understand, anyway, she spoke about jobs, banking, mobile phones, areas to visit, travelling, everything really, so that was really good. After the meeting we just walked and walked for hours just to get a feel for the city and I must say, there truly is something for everyone. We were shattered and jetlagged after the walk so we went to get some food in a Thai restaurant and it was delicious.
On the second day we signed up to a tour that online reviews were bragging about and it truly was worth going to. It was advertised as a tour of the Capilano suspension bridge which is a must see but there was a lot more to it. The tour guide, Eric, took the group down Beach Avenue which is near the hostel and straight away he started telling us everything relevant about the areas we were in, the initial walk led us onto Yaletown which is one of the oldest areas in Vancouver Downtown, we then took a Ferry across to North Vancouver and we continued our journey up to the Capilano area. We eventually reached a forest and walked along many trails, we even visited the salmon hatchery before ending the tour at the Capilano suspension bridge.
