The plan for Canada

With less than two weeks to go things are starting to get pretty surreal, everything about my day to day is going to be changing for something new that I don’t know much about.

Luckily, everything is pretty much sorted now, the flights, the insurance (which i’ll be telling you more about on a sepereate post), my lugagge etc. So now I have some time to really wind down before the big move and think about what is going to be happening there.

Katie and I will be flying to Vancouver on the 13th October and we will stay there for 2 weeks.  On the first week we will be at the Hi-Vancouver Downtown hostel (this reminds me, I should print out the receipt so there’s no problem when we get there) and on the second week we will be staying in a hotel, Katie booked  so I have completely forgotten the name, but it’s nice :D

As well as absorbing as much of Vancouver as we can, i.e. doing the touristy stuff with a giant camera hanging by my neck, we will also be sorting out our mobiles, bank accounts, social security numbers etc, pretty much everything that is required for us to get paid whilst in Canada and be in contact with people.

On the 29th October, we will be travelling up to Whistler and checking-in with Intrawest and thats when the adventure really gets going.

I start my job as a ‘guest relations host’ on the 2nd November. I’m not exactly sure of what this will be  but i think it will be like customer services on the slopes, so if you need to know where something is, if you’re having a problem (resort related, not emotional) or if your friend has broken his leg and needs a helicopter, you’ll come to me or another host.

Exciting times ahead.

Anton
